At SEMA 2011, MAcarbon took home two Global Media Awards for our “Mercedes Custom Steering Wheel And Shift Paddle Extensions” (see pic below). The Global Media Awards panel consists of a prestigious group of international journalists serving as judges, with 26 judges from 12 key automotive markets. Each judge carefully reviewed and evaluated items in the New Products Showcase before making their selections. GT Entertainment (France) and Autonews (Germany) magazines recognized our steering wheels as a product they felt would “resonate and appeal most to consumers”. We feel the same, and hope you’ll enjoy and make use of our new version of the wheel configurator to customize your own car!

MAcarbon’s Wheel Configurator enables you to create the perfect custom steering wheel for your exotic or luxury car. Our latest version of the Configurator is now live! We’ve taken our old configuration and streamlined it, adding some new features based on feedback we’ve received from customers.
- A “Start Order Process” button has been added. This makes it easier for the customer to initiate the order. Before, the customer was left wondering what to do once they had finalized their design. Now, the order process can be initialized right from the Configurator.
- We’ve added the ability to display photos of each wheel option. This gives you the ability to preview live photos of many stitching, ring, and material patterns. The rightmost column has icons that activate if there are available pictures.
- We’ve consolidated all our help options into one location at the top right of the screen. This section includes separate buttons for Chat, General Help, and the Wheel Program FAQ.
- The FAQ answers common questions (duh!) about the wheel program directly form the Configurator. These include things such as
- Will a Ferrari 360 wheel fit my 355?
- Will a later model Lamborghini Gallardo wheel fit my earlier model Lamborghini?
- What is a hub?
- etc.
- Thread and ring galleries showing examples of many options have been linked into the Configurator. This pouts all the versions in one place for easy viewing.

MAcarbon had a booth at The SEMA Show http://www.semashow.com/ in Las Vegas Nevada for the third year in a row and it was the best show yet. All of the halls were full with products for any car or truck lover to gush over. Our booth was in a great location near the Mazdaspeed booth and we had a ton of traffic throughout the entire week.
Lane drove the shop car “Porsche 996 Targa” and John drove to trusty Mazda minivan the 9 hours to Vegas where we met up with our partners from Belgium (Georges and Caroline) and Canada (Andre). We had a great time visiting with several of our current customers and met many more potentially great customers…It was the best show yet!
We entered our “Mercedes W211 Steering Wheel with extended Carbon Shift Paddles” in the new products section and we came away with two awards for having one of the best new products at SEMA.
Lane was able to sneak away from the booth for a couple hours each day and take these pictures showing the variety that SEMA has to offer to everyone’s taste.

One of our favorite customers asked us to make a carbon interior for her Q7. She wanted to replace all of the silver trim in her car with carbon in order to match the way she said her Q7 “hauled ass”. We put together a seven piece kit for her and we think the results speak for themselves. She was certainly happy. And we were so hapy with it that, we will soon have the Q7 as a normal product offering. There are a few different versions of the Q7 interior so pricing will vary depending on what the customer has. Contact MAcarbon if you are interested in pre-ordering.

Our steering wheels have been very popular with MAcarbon’s customers. Each wheel is made to the customer’s specification with a myriad of options for them to pick from. Photos of previous wheels helped customers get some ideas but most had to simply imagine what the wheel would look like. This flexibility has also lead to a lot of confusion on how much a wheel would actually cost. So after almost six months of development, MAcarbon has launched our online wheel configurator. Now a customer can play around with all of the options available for a wheel, see right in the window what the wheel willlook like and have the system automatically calculate the price. The customer can then email the configuration to themselves when done.
We have launched the application with two of our most popular wheels. The first wheel is the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale. THe 360CS interior is almost all carbon already and a CF wheel makes a big impact. The second whell is the Porsche 997 Gen 1 Sport wheel which Porsche does not offer in carbon. We will be adding more wheels over the coming days.
Even with the configurator, properly spec’ing out a wheel involves a lot of decisions. The customer can chat directly with MAcarbon as they use the tool as well as call us.

With a recent Cayenne installation here at MAcarbon headquarters, we’ve added to our Cayenne install guides. As can be seen in the guides, a Cayenne interior can be installed by any owner who has a few basic tools. The new guides include the door trim set, dash trim set, and the console grab handles. You can always contact MAcarbon if you have questions on what is involved.

MAcarbon helped European Car with their 997 Turbo project car back in 2008. In the Janaury 2010 issue, EU summarizes all of the mods done to the car by Imagine Auto, our dealer in Kansas. EU gives us a nice little blurb along with a cool shot of our center console. What a monster that Turbo turned out to be!
MAcarbon has entered into a sponsorship agreement with carbonfibergear.com. CarbonFiberGear (CFG) is a blog that covers the world of carbon fiber accessories. Although they do not cover car parts in detail, many of our customers have mentioned the CFG site. We figured that if carbon enthusiasts were to be found anywhere, it would be at a blog covering carbon in detail. We look forward to working with CFG.
